In order to set a good example, Ecorider is the first ski and snowboard school which fights against global warming in the mountains with an « Objective Carbon Zero » and offsets its incompressible emissions by taking part in the reforestation project called Alto Huayabamba. This project has many benefices both concerning the fight against climate change, preserving biodiversity, water resources, the numerous virtues of tropical forests, as well as from the point of view of the development of small-scale producers.

Ecorider has thus enabled the planting of trees in the region of Alto Huayabamba, in the Peruvian Amazon. The project is led by the cooperative ACOPAGRO. Founded in 1997, it gathers more than 1 500 small-scale producers of cocoa and sugar canes. The cooperative fits into the scheme of a project from the United Nations, launched in 1994, aiming at replacing coca crops with cocoa crops. Alto Huayabamba's goal is to plant 2 million trees in 5 years that is to say the equivalent of 1.6 million tons of CO2 over 40 years. These native trees are a consortium of fruit trees and species encouraging the cultivation of cocoa and biodiversity : Caipirona, Shaina, Rosado Cedro, Cedro, Teca, Paliperro. Planting trees enables small-scale producers to increase their incomes, to ensure food sovereignty in the long term, to increase the soil fertility and the outputs of cocoa trees and to preserve the soil.
